Crayton's Young Men of Distinction

Crayton's Young Men of Distinction Attend SCABSE Conference

Six students consisting of seventh and eighth-grade students had the opportunity to attend the South Carolina Alliance of Black School Educators in North Charleston, SC. The three-day, two-night trip consisted of breakout sessions emphasizing collaboration, critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and effective communication. Additionally, these wonderful students had the opportunity to tour the newly opened African American Museum in Charleston, SC. Crayton Middle School's Men of Distinction Boy's Club was well represented, and our young male students enjoyed various activities and sessions.

API Dr. Brewington and AP Mr. Cleckley lead an activity with our Young Men of Distinction focusing on collaborative problem-solving and resolving issues through positive discourse. Way to go Young Men of Distinction!

Core Values

Today's meeting is part of an ongoing process of identifying our core values. Students were asked last week to identify five core values that resonated within them. Today was the continuation of identifying how our core values shape our identity and also guide our everyday decision-making. Eventually, the identification of core values will segue into the construction of our vision board.

Love Dub Club

This club is for students who have the heart to serve others. We seek opportunities to do community service in the surrounding neighborhood and share the Crayton giving spirit. We are aiming to serve several target groups and make a few field trips, if possible. Our goal is to reach out to others who may need encouragement, companionship, and connection.

The Atria at Forest Lake is one of our closest neighbors. We decided to visit them for Valentine's Day, as some of the residents may not have family to come around the holidays, so we took the opportunity to share our love with them. Our club made valentines to share with them, while the band and chorus students did several performances.

By deliberately structuring professional development and learning, we aim to deliver content using instructional methods that directly correspond to highly effective practices.

By assessing the needs and strengths of our staff, we tailor learning experiences for educators that are closely tied to the specific challenges and requirements they face in their classrooms.

Offering top-notch professional learning opportunities to our staff translates into improved outcomes for students. It's crucial to support teachers by demonstrating, through professional learning sessions, strategies that will have the greatest impact for students at Crayton.

Crayton's Professional Learning offers techniques to enhance the integration of instructional methods, which have proven to have a significant impact on student success. By equipping our staff with evidence-based approaches for delivering high-quality primary instruction, we bolster teachers' confidence in their ability to make a difference, leading to better student results.
